More beach pics...

I know I'm behind on my posting, but my computer has been cutting out on me. I've tried changing a few settings, and I hope it will hang on a while longer. I have saved everything on my external hard drive in case it decides to totally quit.
This morning I've been rearranging one of my sewing desks. I was just tired of the same set up. I could really use a bigger room, but that's not going to happen.
Here is our family pic. We were so glad to finally get a pic of us all together, and in such a pretty setting.
This is Cody's family on the left, and Emily's family on the right.

Cayden's Turn...

Words cannot describe how happy this boy is all of the time. His smile could literally light up the world.
Cayden had so much fun playing in the sand and the water. I bought him a little Spiderman water board at the dollar store, and he paddled everywhere with that. He took swimming lessons the week before we left, and by the time we left Destin, he could swim across the swimming pool almost entirely under water.
He was all sad that we had to leave, but it wasn't as bad as last year because he cried and cried the day we had to come home.
I love this one of them together. They do love each other even though they occasionally fight. They are the light of my life!

Pics from the beach trip to Destin...

Our whole family went to Destin for 5 days. It was the first time we have all gotten to go somewhere together. We had so much fun swimming, playing in the sand, and eating (of course).
I decided to post pics of Shelby first since I made her dress. Then I'll do Cayden, and then the family.
Shelby is real moody some days, and after she got over her initial little moody fit, she was fine. After the family pics, she took off to the waves. I took my camera and chased her. I was so tickled to get these pics. My daughter touched up a couple so she could edit out other people's feet and such. LOL
The fabric came from India, and the pattern I used was from SB # 119. It is Erin's Sew Easy Sundress. I lined it, and inserted ribbon in the front and back sections instead of using bias tape.

We were lucky we made it there before the oil. They say it's not far away. We did see some oil in the water when we crossed the bridge in Mobile. It's so sad, and living in LA makes it even sadder. I do pray they can make more progress in the clean up soon.

Swimsuits....

I have been wanting to make some swimsuits for a long time. I made two different styles. The pattern for the seersucker suit came from Sew Beautiful Magazine - issue #130. Lots of people have made these. It turned out really cute, and Shelby loved it. I may make another one soon.
The next one was made from fabric from Chez Ami. It's what they call their tactel knit, or swimwear fabric. I loved sewing on this stuff. It is stretchy, but so easy to sew on. I wish I had a coverstitch machine, but I don't, so I experimented with my serger, and my sewing machine.
I used the same bikini bottom pattern from SB, and just left off the ruffle at the waist. The top is McCall's 4762. It has elastic in the back. I tried it on Shelby the other day, and it is really cute on her. I will get some pics when we go to the beach in a few days.
I hemmed the ruffled using my serger and a rolled hem. It did really good. The pattern didn't call for a ruffle, but I just felt it needed something. I have enough of this fabric to make another one or two. LOL  I got this when they had one of their sales for $3.50 a yd. I will be looking for some more soon. Got to love those sales!!
Cayden and Shelby came for my birthday on Friday, and we had so much fun swimming in our cousin's pool. Cayden has learned so much at his swimming lessons, and Shelby wore her floatie swim ring, and she dog-paddled all around the pool.
I hope the next post will be pics of our beach trip. Our whole family is getting to go, so please say a prayer for a safe trip.
Hugs to all!

Cayden Swimming

I just get all teary-eyed watching Cayden. This boy is this happy all of the time. He just started private swimming lessons this week. He did have a few group lessons last summer.
We think he is doing exceptionally well. He has always been very determined and strong willed, but as sweet as can be. He makes my heart sing!

Another giveaway - Our Little Miss Thing

I promised you another giveaway. So check this out over at "Our Little Miss Thing". She does beautiful bows and clips.
Remember Shelby's third birthday outfit? Well, Stephanie made the beautiful bow to match the fabrics after I sent her some pictures.

Good Luck to everyone!

A beautiful blog, and an awesome giveaway...

I love reading other blogs, and I found this one from reading another blog, and you know how it goes.
Go HERE to comment and try to win, but I would really like to win this. Of course, who wouldn't?
I have been MIA for a while. I haven't been feeling good, and then we went out of town for a couple of days. Well, my DH had a workshop to attend, and I stayed in the hotel room in the bed and just rested. Pretty boring, but I needed to rejuvenate.
I'll be back with another link to another giveaway tomorrow.

Loving my Yard....

I just love my yard from the time the azaleas bloom through the time the daylilies bloom. The lady that lived here before us planted all of the lilies, and they just get prettier every year.
The ones in the back of the yard had not been as thick, but we've been fertilizing them so now they are looking much better. We have a wooden fence around part of the yard, and you can see we have accumulated some various pieces of yard art. Well, some of it has just been relocated. It makes for a good view from the patio.

We didn't grow this huge begonia. My DH brought it home from school. It was growing on their patio.
Now I don't know what the name of this next tree is, but we call it an embrella tree. Last year, it was about 2 ft. tall.
The bottom pics are views from my sun room. I hate for this season to end, and the hot, hot summertime to come because nothing looks very pretty from the middle of June until the fall when we can plant pansies.
  Have a happy summer!
