My Little Valentine....

First, I'd like to say thanks for those of you that left comments on my last post. It has been a really tough week after the loss of our beloved friend.
Friday evening we had a gathering at our home for all of her friends per request of her husband, sister, and MIL. I think it really helped all of us including her family to join together and share stories of our sweet Jay Dawn.

I had made Shelby this little skirt for her Valentine's Day party.  The pattern is "Dancer" by Ellie Inspired. I really like the style, but the 3 layers got a little bulky, and it wanted to sag. The part I love about it is that is has shorts underneath. If I make it again, I will only do one skirt layer and the shorts. Shelby is getting to the age where little girls like skirts so I know she'll be wanting more.

I covered a headband to match - which she loved!
Now here is my Little Valentine! My sweet grands really lifted my day on Tuesday.  Oh the innocence of a child!
I love the picture below. I know this girl would have loved to have had that whole box of cookies to herself. That is her favorite kind. It is just hilarious to watch her eat one of these or a cupcake! A girl after my own heart! LOL
Thanks for stopping by. I do appreciate your visits.

How Do You Mend a Broken Heart?

Yesterday afternoon I left home with intentions of going to meet some fellow bloggers at Starbucks in Shreveport.
I went by my daughter's house to leave an outfit for Shelby (later post), and my husband called.
When I looked at my daughter, I knew something was terribly wrong. I know you've been in my shoes!
One of our dearly loved, long-time friends took her own life yesterday morning. I know my mouth fell open, and I was in total shock. I just knew there had to be a mistake!
You see this person was always laughing, joking, and the happiest person I've ever been around. We emailed quite frequently as she was living in OK, but she grew up in this town.
She was like family. Many days when we emailed - those emails were between my husband, my daughter, Jay Dawn, and me! She loved knowing everything about everybody in town! When the church burned down on Christmas Eve, she was very distraught. She was a part of so many people here that I can't even begin to explain.
She sent gifts, cards, emails, texts, and you name it, to so many!
So how in the world did we miss the fact that she must have been in some kind of turmoil, some kind of endless pain, and something in which she thought she couldn't face?
We all have so many questions without any answers! I already miss my friend soooo much just knowing she's not ever going to be at the end of that email again. I could talk to her about anything, and it's only been a few days since we were emailing back and forth.
I know she loved and believed in God! My only comfort is to see her again some day.
Please remember her sisters, brother, husband, cousins, and many, many friends in your prayers. Everyone is hurting............

If You Do Machine Embroidery....

You need to go and visit Embroidables.com. They have the cutest stuff, and have you ever heard of the Dollymama's Designs? Oh my, they just steal my heart. Sorry the pics are a little blurry. The sign says, "We had to get rid of the kids...the cat was allergic!
They have these for almost any aging process. LOL
They look adorable on kitchen towels too!
This is one of my favorites.
"I used up all of my sick days so I'm calling in dead!"

"All I want for Xmas is a nap!"
I hope you will go and check these out. They also have lots of other cute designs, and they have a forum where people show off their projects using Embroidables' designs.

Have a blessed day!

I Love Giveaways!

...and especially when I win! Woo Hoo!

I entered the giveaway at Stray Stitches. Linda has a really neat blog. Thanks so much, Linda!

I was so excited to win not one but TWO - Good Fortune Charm Packs by Kate Spain for Moda! These came from The Fat Quarter Shop! Love that place!

Maybe the title has something to do with it?

They were packed so neatly in a sealed plastic envelope.
Plus they have the numbers to re-order on the back of the cardboad.
Of course, I had to spread them out so I could see all of the lovely prints. Oh my - would you call this eye candy or what?
I have just recently gotten interested in charm squares - and mostly the 5 inch. I mean why cut them when you can buy them already cut?

I did have to cut my own for an I Spy swam I'm participating in, but that's ok because when I get my set back, I will have 56 different squares.

I just had to share my good news! I hope everyone is having a good week. It's been too warm here for January. What happened to winter?

Hugs to all!
