I...I'm always glad to find a southern blog! I'm from the south but am now in the midwest. One of our great chefs, in fact his restaurant, Alinea, was just named the best in the country, was diagnosed with stage 4 tongue cancer three years ago. He was treated at the U. of Chicago hospital (I think) and is now cancer free without losing his much needed sense of taste. I...We just lost my husband's mother last week. It is hard to lose a parent, but to lose a child must be nearly unbearable. When I was teaching I had several children who went to St. Jude's.
